The two famous monuments in this full 360° panoramic photograph anchor the east and west ends of the Reflecting Pool, one of Washington's most visited places. Begun in 1848, the Washington Monument is the world's largest obelisk. It remained only partially completed through the Civil War and was not finished until 1885. The Lincoln Memorial's architecture and siting were heavily influenced by the Beaux Arts movement of the early 20th century. Completed in 1922, the Memorial is one Washington's most historic sites and one of its most symbolic, a frequent backdrop for public assemblies and ceremonies. 11"w x 41"H
