Exclusively designed and created for Virginia Born & Bred, these are beautifully detailed wooden miniatures representing Lexington's outstanding historic landmarks. Handmade, each piece is cut and then screen printed in full color to reproduce the most detailed reproduction available. This piece is the Main Hall of Southern Virginia University. Established in 1867 as Bowling Green Female Seminary (school for girls), the school moved to a resort hotel, now Main Hall, in Buena Vista, in 1900, and the name changed to Southern Seminary. Main Hall, built in 1890, is a National Historic Landmark. From 1922 to 1996, Southern Seminary was a junior college. In 1996, a group of Latter-day Saint businessmen and educators took over the helm, changing the name to Southern Virginia College and making it a four year college. With its continued growth, the name was changed once again in 2001 to Southern VIrginia University.
