This full 360°color panoramic photograph shows the historic Palace Green in Colonial Williamsburg Virginia. Anchored on the north by the Governor's Palace and on the south at its intersection with Gloucester Street, this formal space defined the town's importance as Virginia's colonial capital. From early in the 18th century, the palace served as the formal residence of the colonial governors. Later, the first two governors of the new State of Virginia, Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson would occupy this impressive residence. The original palace burned in 1781. The replica, constructed in the 1930's, rests on the foundations of the original palace.
